UPDATE - November 19, 2024

On November 19, 2024, the new Zoning Code and Zoning Map were adopted! The Code and Map will go into effect on March 1, 2025.

UPDATE DECEMBER 19, 2024

A User Manual for the Zoning Code has been added to the Presentations & Reports page. This manual provides an overview of the structure and content of the new Zoning Code.

Past Updates

July 14, 2023

On July 14, 2023 we added a video recording of the powerpoint presentation given earlier in June; you can watch the PowerPoint recording on YouTube here. We have also begun adding items to the FAQ page to answer some common questions. Please continue to send questions and comments to us!

June 12, 2023

Camiros presented the findings of the Technical Report and Analysis of the current Zoning Code to the Planning Commission at a workshop on June 8, 2023. Thank you to all who attended. The PowerPoint from this meeting and the document are available on the presentations & reports page.

May 15, 2023

The Technical Report and Analysis of the current Zoning Code has been released! This document, available on the presentations & reports page, provides an understanding of Hot Spring’s current zoning regulations and introduces concepts and regulatory approaches that set direction for substantive updates to be included in the new Zoning Code. An overview of the Report will be presented at a Planning Commission workshop on June 8 at 5pm.

October 29, 2024

Public Draft 3.0 - the Planning Commission Recommended Draft - of the Hot Springs Zoning Code has been posted. There is also a link to the interactive draft Zoning Map.

October 4, 2024

Public Draft 2.5 of the Hot Springs Zoning Code has been posted, along with a revised Draft Zoning Map. Public Draft 2.5 is provided into versions. The redline version shows the changes from Draft 2.0 (July 2024) to Draft 2.5. A non-redline version of Draft 2.5 is also provided.

Code Forward Hot Springs Zoning Map Review - Sept. 3rd and Sept. 10th

Hot Springs property owners will have an opportunity to sit down and talk about the new zoning map and what those changes may mean for them. The new map is available on the Presentations & Reports page, along with the second draft zoning code, Code Forward.

August 14, 2024

The second public draft of the Zoning Ordinance has been released. You can view the PDF of the Code on the Presentations & Reports page. Changes from Public Draft 1.0 (February 2024) are shown in redline in Draft 2.0. The Draft Zoning Map has also been released. The Draft Zoning Map is also available on the Presentations & Reports page.

In addition to the draft Code and Map, handouts that help to explain how to read the Draft Zoning Map and the updated approach to parking regulations in Draft 2.0 are also available on the Presentations & Reports page.

On August 27, there will be two public presentations on Zoning Code Public Draft 2.0 at Noon and 4pm at the Garland County Public Library. There will also be a virtual presentation on August 29 at Noon via Zoom Webinar. Check the Events page for more detail.

July 19, 2024

We are excited to announce that Public Draft 2.0 of the Zoning Code will be released in August 2024! This second release will also include a Draft Zoning Map. Please check back for information in August.

The previously released draft (Draft 1.0) and a variety of support materials, such as presentations and videos that provide an overview of Zoning Code Draft 1.0, are still available on the Presentations & Reports page.

March 14, 2024

Thank you to all who attended the Open Houses on Public Review Draft 1.0 of the Hot Springs Zoning Code! A PDF of the presentation as well as the displays are now available to view and/or download on the Presentations & Reports page.

We encourage all interested members of the public to continue to review the draft and leave us your comments. The comment period remained open until 5pm on April 15th.

Public Review Draft 1.0 of the Hot Springs Zoning Code is now available to view and/or download on the Presentations & Reports page. We encourage all interested members of the public to review the draft, and to join us at upcoming public open houses being held in March. For more information on these events, please visit the Upcoming Events page on this website.

We have also created a video introducing some of the key concepts included in the Code update. You can view the video by clicking the embedded link to the left. As always, we encourage you to sign up for project updates at the bottom of this page, and to leave us your comments. We look forward to continuing to work with the community on this important project, and hope to see you at an upcoming event!
